Troop Skills

Overview

Troop Skills are an important part of the game, and a player should be attempting to make best use of them to improve their might. Troop skills are a type of buff (or boost) provided by your Heroes. Each hero has four troop skills at their disposal. These can be viewed on the “Troop Skill” tab of the Hero View.

Troop skills fall into two categories, “passive boost” and “active boost”. Passive boost troop skills are given to you when you obtain the hero, and are always boosting you no matter where you are in the game. Active boost troop skills are only boosting you when you take the hero with you into battle (or rally). You are allowed to take five heroes with you at a time, so you must be conversant with the active boost troop skills of your heroes so that you can select the five heroes that will provide the most might to you for the rally.

A good player will study each of the troop skills of the heroes owned, and strategize on how to get the most out of them.

Some troop skills only become available when the hero is evolved to a certain level, and this is dependent on the hero’s star rating (or rarity). On the other hand, all troop skills are improved by enhancing the hero.

You can view whether a particular troop skill is an active or a passive boost by clicking on the troop skill icon itself. This will display a table showing the boost improvements made by each enhancement of the hero. Beneath the table is a line which will be one of these two:

  • “Own the hero to activate this effect” (passive boost)
  • “Takes effect when the hero joins troop battle” (active boost)

Tactical Troop Skill

All heroes have what is known as the “tactical” troop skill when they are obtained at level 1, irrespective of who they are or what star rating they have. The “tactical” troop skill is an active boost to the troop’s ATK (attack) stat. Unenhanced heroes (also known as “+0”) will boost the troop’s ATK stat by 100% when taken into battle. Therefore, it is a given that your troop ATK will be boosted by at least 500% in battle simply by taking any five heroes with you (5×100%).

The “tactical” troop skill (as with any troop skill) is improved by enhancing the hero:

+0+1+2+3+4+5
100%120%150%200%300%500%

Note that further enhancement does not increase the tactical skill boost. Enhancing 6-star heroes to +6, +7 or +8 provides no further benefit for the “tactical” troop skill.

Other Troop Skills

There are three other troop skills available for each hero (other than the “tactical” troop skill). These cover a large variety of stat types, and can be either passive or active boosts.

The type and amount of boost provided is individual to the troop skill. However, they all share some characteristics. The first thing is that the boost amount is better for higher star-rated heroes. The second thing is that the troop skills become available at predictable levels, depending on the star rating of the hero.

ThirdLv.11Lv.31Lv.31Lv.31
FourthLv.31Lv.71Lv.131Lv.131

As you can see, you have to wait much longer to achieve the last troop skill for 5 star heroes, but they are usually highly desirable boosts.

There is very little benefit to upgrading a hero beyond the level required for the fourth and final troop skill. Each upgrade beyond this point does not provide a good soulstone-to-might ratio, and it is generally considered to be a waste of valuable soulstones.
